Taxonomic update and software upgrade of a 2006 OTEP project (XOT407 Identification guide to major Caribbean reef species ), concerning identification of benthic reef species to aid reef survey work.
This project was extraordinarily successful (see later) and for 6 years has been the foundation of uncounted reef and field surveys in all Caribbean OTs, and many other Caribbean countries. It fills a need, making reef survey and conservation work easier, but new DNA-based taxonomies have changed many of the names now used. This resource needs substantial updating to help ensure reef survey work is up to date and consistent between countries.
