Summary
The spread of invasive plant species such as Mexican thorn and guava on Ascension Island is a major threat to biodiversity both within and outside of protected areas. However, safely accessing many of these areas is impossible. New drone systems allow the targeting of these remote areas for the first time by applying aerial herbicide. This new method will be trialed and its efficacy and efficiency for treating inaccessible and accessible areas of invasive plants evaluated.
